Nothing Ordinary About The Ordinary

Why hello there!

Man does it feel good to be back. I took a break for a hot second – kind of by accident, I didn’t realize how long it had been since I had sat down and done something with my blog. Kind of funny that my last post was about being busy, eh? I have been just that…BUSY.

Maybe I’ll do a quick little update later this week on what I’ve been up to. To quickly recap the past few months: my sister got married (AHHH),  I spent a weekend in New York, I have been eyes deep in rehearsals (we open this week!), I finally got my health under control (NATUROPATHY. I’ll blog about it.), and I’ve been bopping around doing pretty much everything other than blogging. Things haven’t quite slowed down, but I missed this too much to wait any longer!

To ease back into this whole blogging thing, I wanted to tell you about another change from the past few months…MY SKIN. I found a product that has totally upped my skincare game, and it’s all thanks to my sister Nikki. They rave about this brand The Ordinary constantly, and after seeing it all over Facebook (shout out to Bunz Makeup Zone), I decided to give one of their top rated products a go.

If you haven’t heard of The Ordinary, here’s the deal. The brand is made by DECIEM, a group of brands “focused on advanced functional beauty.” All products by DECIEM (and thereby The Ordinary) are free of sulfates, parabens, and all of the other crap you’re not supposed to put on your skin but seems to be in everything anyways. I’m always down to find ways to clean up my beauty regime. They also don’t test on animals, which is pretty sweet! DECIEM is all about integrity in both their technology and their prices. Not a bad business model if you ask me.

(By the way, this post is in NO WAY sponsored. I’m just so intrigued by the brand since their products work so well. Read on!)

The product that first caught my eye was the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. Marketed as a “High-Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula”, this serum costs $5.90 and apparently works miracles. Despite instructions to use morning & night, I have been using this only at night – I was nervous as to what it would do to my face, as my skin freaks out from, like, the air. I pat a layer on my skin after washing off my makeup and before applying moisturizer/eye cream.

After using this serum for about a month, MY SKIN HAS CHANGED! To be totally honest, I even noticed results after only a few days. My skin texture has completely transformed. I don’t have terrible skin to begin with, but I’ve had issues with bumps and inconsistent texture for a while. Enter Niacinamide – my cheeks are SO soft, and most of the small breakouts and bumps on my face have gone away. My skin is so much smoother and I couldn’t be happier!!!

While there is plenty to be said for expensive, luxe skincare, I am so excited to have come across this brand that offers CHEAP AF products that actually work.

Do you have any other favourites by The Ordinary? Tell me! I’m sold.
