Strawberry Oreo V-Day Treat

I was trying to come up with a fun Valentine’s Day recipe for the blog, and did some experimenting in my kitchen. I came across this No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake recipe on Pinterest from A Night Owl Blog and put my own spin on it. It somehow turned into this cute dessert jar, but I didn’t think it would end up being posted…I finished it at night, and the photos were subpar.

Instagram changed my mind!

I posted this photo, and some followers wanted the recipe…ask and ye shall receive! (Or something like that).

If you’re looking for a SUPER easy and delicious dessert to whip up this weekend (whether for your significant other, or for yourself…) definitely give this a shot. It took no time at all and appears way more impressive than it is.

What you’ll need:
– 12 Oreos (crushed)
– 1 package cream cheese (room temp)
– 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
– 5 tbsp. White Chocolate Jello Pudding mix
– 1 tub Cool Whip
– 1 package Strawberry Jello
– Strawberries for garnish

How-To:
1. Make your Jello as directed, but put it in the freezer to set. This will make it a bit more solid and manageable. I used a heart shaped ice cube tray, but you could also let it set in a shallow dish and use a cookie cutter later.
2. Mix together the cream cheese, vanilla extract, and pudding mix. Keep mixing on medium-high speed until the clumps are worked out.
3. Add the tub of Cool Whip and mix it together by hand (this is important. I tried using the mixer and it doesn’t have the same effect).
4. The original recipe called for red food colouring. Obviously I forgot this, but then I had a genius idea…use the leftover still-liquid Jello. I poured in 4-5 tbsp. and it gave me a lovely pink hued mixture. It doesn’t translate well to photos…but I swear it’s light pink. Food colouring is prob better, but the Jello added an extra sweetness.
3. Add a layer of crushed Oreos to the bottom of your dish. I used mason jars because I’m 2 hip 4 words. Follow up with a layer of your mixture, and repeat until full.
4. Garnish with whatever your little heart desires. Chopped strawberries or crushed Oreo would be lovely…this is where your frozen Jello hearts come in!

ENJOY! Let me know if you try this out or have any other festive desserts. Happy Valentine’s Day!
