Skincare Routine

Finding the right routine for my skin has been a long and hard battle that I am still fighting my way through. I’m starting to realize that the “less is more” approach really is the way to go! I used to try any product I could find that seemed unique, but I’m learning that the mildest products are best for my skin. I no longer wash my face in the morning (unless I shower, in which I use my Clarisonic Mia), I just rinse with some cold water and moisturize. Nighttime is really the only time I use any cleansers! Here are the products that I use on an every day basis to keep my skin in check- they’re all available at the drugstore. Granted I still break out like nobody’s business, but at least this stuff doesn’t make things worse!

1. Neutrogena All-in-One Make-up Removing Cleansing Lotion
This is my holy grail make-up remover. I’ve been using it for years and I don’t think I’ll ever find anything better! It’s super creamy, it doesn’t foam (I read somewhere that the foamier the cleanser the more it dries your skin out…I found it on the internet, so it must be true. Right?) and the make-up basically melts off your face. This face wash doesn’t hurt your eyes either- big plus!

2. Bioderma Micelle Solution
Okay I actually have no idea what this product is called, but I just call it my “cleansing water.” I use it on a cotton round after I take my make-up off, and I am always disgusted by how much residual dirt comes off my face!!! I know it’s expensive, and I’m pretty sure that Garnier makes a similar dupe, but you definitely get your money’s worth with Bioderma.

3. Nivea Pure & Natural Purifying Toner
I hadn’t used a toner in a long time, but my mom told me that I should be using one. Being the obedient daughter that I am, I picked up this drugstore alternative to something like Clinique (help me, I’m poor). I love how clean it makes my face feel, and it seems to help soothe any redness in my skin.

4. Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer
There isn’t much to say about this moisturizer other than that it’s awesome; it doesn’t leave my skin oily, it is super moisturizing, and it has sunscreen in it. I haven’t had any issues with dry skin since using this moisturizer, and it doesn’t clog my pores or break out my sensitive skin.

5. L’Oréal Defense Eye Cream
I am a recent convert to using eye cream. As I’ve said many times, I have terrible under eye circles and I’m constantly trying to find ways to reduce them. This cream is cooling and works to de-puff my under eye area, and it creates a nice smooth base for my concealer to stick to. 10/10!

6. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Medicated Gel
This is more of a once-in-a-while product, but it definitely works. I put this gel on any pimples that pop up to ruin my life, and it stops ’em right in their tracks. I also love the smell of tea tree, so that’s a major plus.
