Revlon Colorburst Balms

While I once associated lipstick with Halloween smell (y’all know exactly what I mean), I’ve spent the past year falling deeply in love with lip colour. Lip products open up a whole new world of playing with makeup, and I love how a statement lip can perk me up on the sleepiest and most hungover of days. I swear I get suckered into trying every kind of lipstick sold at Shoppers, but the Revlon Colorburst Balm line is my favourite at the moment!

I only have 4 shades (for now…) and each of them is awesome in its own way. There are 3 different kinds of balm: Lacquer Balm, Matte Balm, and Balm Stain. I pick my lip products 99% based on how pretty they look in the tube, so I didn’t even really consider the formulation when buying them…turns out I love all 3 of the formulas! Aaaaand tbh I stole the orange shade from my sister. Oops. They also have a minty/tea-tree smell (suuuuper scientific) that feels great on your lips. For $9.50, I definitely recommend these lip crayons!  Here are a few pictures of how each shade sits on my lips.

PS – thanks to the recommendation of my pal Jess Keys, I recently got a new lens for my camera and am still playing around with it. Apologies if the focus isn’t perfect! #learningcurve

PPS – I’ve been giving my skin a makeup vacation, and it was just today that I realized I have freckles all over my face. I have gone 23 years thinking that my freckles were restricted to my nose. I have been freaking out about this to everyone I know. Why didn’t I know my own face? SOS send help.

Enticing - Enticing was the first crayon I tried, and it made me a believer. I've tried a ton of different red lipsticks, and this shade is one of the most flattering reds I've tried. It's a fairly true red (not too blue or orange) and isn't overly bright. It's easily wearable on a day-to-day basis, but can be built up to be a super opaque red lip. It stays majorly glossy all day, which is amazing!

Smitten - I'm a major sucker for hot pink lips. This shade is a true fuschia that stays on ALL DAY. Seriously. All day. I put this lipstick on to take the photo, wiped it off immediately...and it's still there. My lips are pink the next day after a makeup wipe, run, shower, and sleep. Don't get me wrong, the stain actually looks really pretty the next day...just be forewarned that you may have a multi-day pink pout!

Audacious - real talk: I HATE orange. The colour has never been flattering on me, and I typically do not gravitate towards it...until now! This colour is the most wearable orange lipstick I've seen, mostly because it doesn't make me look sickly. I'll be honest, it does try out my lips a bit...nothing a bit of chapstick can't fix!

Honey - this one is like my lips but better! I saw Honey in a YouTube review and figured I'd give it a try. I love this shade for every day wear, and it stays so nice and pink all day. The gloss isn't overwhelming, and it's super buildable. I've been wearing this nonstop, so it's my #1 recommendation!
