Reflections on Blogmas

I refuse to admit that Christmas is over…my Christmas tree sits sadly in the corner of my apartment, begging to be taken down, but I’m drawing out my holiday cheer just a liiiittle while longer. With the passing of Christmas also comes the end of Blogmas, and I wanted to think about how it affected my blogging!

Not gonna lie, I fell off the wagon with Blogmas. It was an awesome idea and I would have loved to create some really cool content for it, but I genuinely did not have the time. The holiday season passed faster than I could stop to enjoy it, and that meant little to no time to plan blog posts. I had a few posts that got some great feedback and traffic (such as Beauty Insider and Little Winter Things) and posting about the holidays really helped get me into the Christmas spirit.

That said, I definitely learned a thing or two about what it really takes to be a successful and consistent blogger. I give MAD props to bloggers that manage to post solid content every day (or a few times per week) ALL THE TIME. The amount of pre-planning and tedious work that goes into every post…wow. Quality takes time and discipline, and I definitely learned that this month.

I was also reminded of the importance of social media. This month I joined the Birchbloggers Facebook group, which isn’t even that big of a group…by posting my content there alone, it gave me the incentive to keep posting and advertising my blog. Self promotion is SO important, especially when you’re posting every day…if you’re putting all of this hard work into your blog, you want people to see it!

After Blogmas, I’m a bit burnt out…I need a minute to regroup and think about the direction I want to go in. But I can say this for sure; I LOVE blogging, and I am really looking forward to figuring myself out in the New Year. People make all kinds of New Year’s resolutions (mine are coming soon!) but here are a few of my 2015 blogging resolutions:

1. Come up with a consistent schedule and stick to it.

2. PLAN. Use a notebook, calendar, or whatever I need to pre-plan great content.

3. Work harder to find inspiration. Whether it be magazines, blogs, Pinterest, Instagram…find new ways to feel inspired and creative. (PS- Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest!)

Thank you all for continuing to support my creative outlet…now go make the last few days of 2014 count!

xoxo CC
