New Year’s Resolutions

I’ve never been good at making (or keeping) New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve always despised those people that decide January 1st is the time to become a good person, and subsequently abandon the concept within the first 6 weeks. That said, the start of a new year can be a good time to force yourself into those important life changes. The key is sticking with them…it’s the hardest part, but try to remember how incredibly proud you’ll feel when you’re still going to the gym 3+ times a week in May.

First off, let’s check in with my Fall To-Do List and see how I did…

✓Go apple picking
X Learn to knit (or crochet)
X Get that piercing/tattoo I didn’t get this summer
X Find a cool DIY on Pinterest and make it
X Plan a kick-ass girls night in
✓Send more snail mail
X Carve pumpkins (and roast pumpkin seeds)
✓SAVE MONEY, DAMNIT
✓Go to Kingston to visit my alma mater
X Take my parents out for dinner- and pay for it myself
✓Come up with a brilliant Halloween costume
✓Plan a trip for 2015

OOOOOKKKKKAAAYYYY I sure did fail this fall. I guess I succeeded where it counts…aside from spending too much on Christmas presents, I did save some money. My Halloween costume wasn’t terrible, and I’m going to Scotland in 2015 with my boyfriend’s family. Is this a terrible omen for completing my 2015 resolutions…? Or fuel to make me try harder?

On top of completing my failed Fall To-Do List, I’ve made a list of 10 ways I want to better myself this year…I can’t promise that I’ll stick to them or that they’re anything but basic. But isn’t that the point of resolutions? I’ll check back in a few months and see how we’re doing.

1. Breathe. I don’t have to be busy all the time.
2. That said, try to be more fun. Go out, be social.
3. Take better care of my skin.
4. Stop making excuses to not work out (but I’m sooo tired after work).
5. Give up gossip.
6. Unplug more often.
7. In contrast, blog more frequently. Make a schedule and stick to it.
8. Make lists; plan and organize better. This goes for blogging, cleaning, and my social life.
9. Exile laziness (especially when choosing healthy food).
10. Smile. Complaining isn’t a good colour on me.

What are your resolutions? Let’s try to be less sucky in 2015 TOGETHER!

xoxo CC
