It may only be January 8th, but I am proud to say that I have made moves to carry out one of my New Year’s resolutions. I don’t trust myself or my will power to stay fit and active, so I’m challenging myself in a pretty big way…I signed up for the Sporting Life 10k; an annual Mother’s Day run in Toronto (and Ottawa!) to raise money for Camp Oochigeas, a camp for kids with cancer. Seeing as I’m trying to get fit and Camp Ooch is a great cause, I couldn’t say no. Along with a few other girls from work and my best friend, I’ll be running (read: limping) 10k a short 4 months from now.
I need to stop to take that in.
10 kilometers.
4 months from now.
…
This is going to be rough.
I have never been a runner, and I definitely have never run any sort of lengthy foot race (not since my cross country days in elementary school…Lord knows how I evaded an asthma attack). But this is my challenge to myself, and it serves as motivation to GET FIT. I paid money for this race, I will be raising money for charity, and I have committed with other people. There is no getting out of this one, so I have no choice but to prepare.
Are you ready to set a goal and challenge yourself to complete it? Will you follow in my footsteps and set measures in place so that you can’t give up? Let me know so I feel less like I’ve dug my own grave.
xoxo CC
