Need (Want) New Shoes

Okay first of all, the whole time I was writing this post, I couldn’t get this song out of my head…I saw Kinky Boots for the first time a few weeks ago, and I can’t get enough. The most beautiful thing in the world…

ANYWAYS.

I do love shoes, but I’m not necessarily a shoe-aholic. I’d much rather buy 100 sweaters than try on pairs of shoes…this is probably because I wear the same flats and boots every damn day. Hence why all of my footwear decided to crap out on me at the same time.

I constantly look like a mess. Shocking, but true.

My most-worn pairs- my riding boots, my white Converse, my leopard flats, and my ankle boots- have all passed their expiry dates. We’re talking salt stains, worn out toes, separated soles, and general rattiness. I’m definitely not easy on my shoes…I wear those suckers into the ground. Lol literally. I’ve also been wearing some of them (I’m lookin’ at you, brown Aldo riding boots) since my freshman year of university. I’d say 6 years is a reasonable lifespan for an essential shoe.

Basically, I’m desperately in need of a shoe closet overhaul. Sure I have plenty of weird shoes I could throw on, but my old faithfuls need a refresh. I’d love to be the girl who wears cute heels all the time and accessorizes with different shoes, but unfortunately I gravitate towards the comfy and basic.

Side note: I’m convinced that short girls are born with the ability to wear high heels for hours on end. I can’t train my feet to be ok with it, and I swear it’s a genetic trait. Just saying.

I’ve rounded up a few picks (aka my shopping list) for each of my shoe categories that I can’t live without: the brown riding boot, the leopard flat, the fun casual sneaker, and the black Chelsea boot. I’m open to suggestions because once spring rolls around and I retire my winter boots, I am le screwed.

Riding Boots

Are riding boots even still fashionable? IDK but I’ll keep wearing them like crazy. I love the look of the Stuart Weitzman OTK boots that everyone is obsessed with, but I don’t think I could ever replace my knee-high leather boots. I wear my black Michael Kors babies at LEAST 3x a week in the fall and winter.

Leopard Flats

I wear leopard flats with EVERYTHING. All black ensemble? Leopard shoes. Olive pants? Leopard shoes. Pants that are too short? Still leopard shoes. Bizarre colour combination that I can’t figure out what shoes to wear? Leopard frigging shoes. I’m a one-trick pony, what can I say?

Fun Sneakers

RIP, white Converse. You served me well. I will probably end up repurchasing them because- like my leopard flats- I wear them with EVERYTHING. But maybe it’s time to broaden my horizons and pick up a different pair of casual sneakers. I think I’m the only female on the planet who doesn’t own a pair of Nikes, so this could be the latest trend that I’m (not-so) fashionably late to.

Chelsea Boots

I LOVE MY BLUNDSTONES. I’ll scream it from the rooftops. I have them in brown and have been soooo tempted to pick up the black. However there are so many fashionable styles that may be more practical for work and dressing up. Much like the other styles mentioned above, I wear ankle boots all the time…I think Chelsea boots will be a fun addition to my collection!
