Get Lippy

How is it that I can drink litres of water per day, have oily skin, yet my lips are SO dry? It baffles me how the elements and filtered air play a role in making my lips feel like a desert. The past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing a whole lot of smiling too big and cringing when I feel my lip split open. It truly is a struggle.

That said, it can be a task in itself to figure out which lip balms to use. There are so many brands on the market all claiming to work magic on your lips. I used to love me some EOS, but then a friend clued me into the fact that the lid often becomes mouldy, and I was immediately turned off. Winter won’t be disappearing any time soon, so I’m here to hopefully save your lips from the impending doom of dryness! Here are my 3 favourite lip balms of the moment, ranging from Save, Worth It, and Break the Bank.

Save

Nivea Hydro Care, $2
My entire life, my mom has kept a container of close to 20 Nivea/Labello lip balms in her kitchen, and I grew to love this product! This is an amazing and CHEAP option to always have on hand. Basically Vaseline in a tube, this lip balm never fails to hydrate your lips and save you from the elements.

Worth It

Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm, $8.50
Another must-have in my life, Rosebud Salve has been a lip saver for many years. I love all of the scents/flavours, but the strawberry has to be my favourite. A welcome change from sickly sweet smelling products, I love how smooth this salve is (and the fact that you can also use it on other dry spots, like nose/cuticles!) The only downside is how annoying it is to open…if it gets dented, GOOD LUCK.

Break the Bank

Dior Crème de Rose, $29
Okay, fine…this one is a bit ridiculous. Who spends $30 on a lip balm. But if you’re ready and willing, this Dior cult favourite will not disappoint. The faint smell of roses is  to die for, and it seriously makes your lips feel like heaven. Nivea does the trick, but this is a luxury I can’t say no to.
