Five Faves: David’s Tea

I LOVE David’s Tea. My sister worked for the company for a few years and she passed her love for tea on to me. I remember the days when I didn’t like flavoured tea….WHAT on Earth was I thinking!?! I’ve slowly but surely tried a wide variety of brands and types of tea, and I am generally unbiased when it comes to tea. I like it all! GIVE ME CAFFEINE!

This week’s Five Faves will feature my favourite teas, in honour of the #selftea promo that David’s Tea is running right now (I figured I’d post my nerdy entry…cheers! Pick me!) It’s so hard to choose…I love them all so much. I didn’t feature as many herbal teas as I love me some caffeine, but DT definitely has an amazing variety of caffeine-free teas! I also chose not to feature Pumpkin Chai, which 100% takes an honourable mention here; I overcame my inner basic bitch this time, although Pumpkin Chai is one of my favourites. If you are a newbie to loose leaf tea or are looking for a new flavour to try, check out my top 5 David’s Tea(s)! (Photos/ingredients lovingly borrowed from their website).

1. Glitter & Gold
Chinese black tea, gold sugar balls, sugar crystals, lemon peel, cloves, vanilla, natural and artificial flavouring.
Glitter & Gold is my all time favourite tea from DT. It’s the perfect combo of spicy (from the cloves) and sweet (vanilla/sugar), and the flavour instantly makes me feel cozy and warm. Also, it quite literally glitters in your cup; the water turns glitter with gold flecks! It’s magically delicious (wait, wrong brand…)

2. Read My Lips
Chinese black tea, peppermint, chocolate, pink peppercorns, sprinkles, natural and artificial flavouring.
My housemates used to give me shit for this tea because they said it smells “like mould.” I definitely disagree, but I CAN say that this tea tastes WAY better than it smells. The chocolate melts into the water and gives the tea almost a creamy taste, which I love, and the tea tastes far more natural than its odour would suggest.

3. Coconut Oolong
Oolong tea, organic coconut flakes, organic lemongrass, artificial coconut flavouring.
DT used to have a tea called Choconut Oolong (maybe it’ll come back at Christmas!) that I ADORE, so this is a close second, I love coconut flavouring, and the lemongrass provides a nice change from my usual dessert-y teas.

4. The Glow
Cinnamon, rosehips, nettle leaf, marigold, rooibos, rose petals, flavouring.
The Glow is my go-to sick day tea. It makes you feel so rejuvenated, and the smell is SO soothing. I don’t know whether it’s my love of cinnamon or the rose flavouring, but I am instantly calmed when I drink this tea. This one is my caffeine-free choice (closely followed by Mother’s Little Helper).

5. Santa’s Secret
Black tea, peppermint leaves, candy cane sprinkles, natural and artificial flavouring.
This tea is a seasonal product, but I had to feature it. Santa’s Secret is a close runner-up to Glitter & Gold for my favourite tea, and who knows which would win my heart if Santa’s Secret were in the permanent collection. This tea is minty and sweet and potent, and I adore it. In fact, all of the Christmas teas are on point (White Chocolate Frost is another favourite). Basically, I love Christmas…
