Apple Picking With the Apple of My Eye

Time for a mini photo diary! As with most girls who fall into the “basic” category (guilty as charged), apple picking is one of my favourite fall activities. Naturally, the one day that Stefan and I were both free to go was a cool, cloudy day…TYPICAL. Rain or shine, I was determined to go apple picking and bake some sort of treat. We decided to go with Lauren Conrad’s Salted Caramel Apple Bars, and they are stupidly good. Seriously, you need to make them ASAP.

ALTHOUGH. NOTE TO SELF. Caramel sauce? NOT FUN TO MAKE. It turned out to be awesome and so tasty, but it was hell on earth to stir. Sore wrists, splash burns and/or a messy stove are inevitable.

For some reason, Stef doesn’t mind taking nerdy photos of me for my blog…I won’t complain! It was a yucky day and the lighting was bizarre (to say the least…), but the good news is that we managed to get a few decent shots (black & white saves the day)! Bad news…we started baking too late and it was too dark to take any pics of our finished dessert. Sorry, but I can tell you that it was delicious.

We had lots of fun roaming around the orchard, and then baking at home in my kitchen. Let’s get real, I’m no domestic goddess…Stef is an unreal chef, so I leave the cooking to him and the photography/wine drinking to myself.

Let me know if you have any other unique apple recipes, because apple crumble is basically all I’ve got.
