All You Need is Grey’s

I have been a devoted follower of Shondaland since the very beginning. Grey’s Anatomy has been one of my favourites for years…and then Scandal came along. And now How to Get Away with Murder. There was even Private Practice, which still managed to rope me in. The drama is endless, and I am completely hooked. I have quite a few friends who have said things like “Grey’s sucks now.” While I don’t totally disagree that the show has gone downhill from the good ol’ days (evil spawn and 007, anyone?) there is still joy to be found in Grey’s, as well as the other magical worlds within Shondaland.

Tonight is Shonda night, which I look forward to all week…it’s been years, and I still religiously make time to watch my shows (although now there is the addition of popcorn & wine, thanks to Olivia Pope). Grey’s will always have a special place in my heart, and here are a few reasons why I will continue to fall in love with Shonda’s creation.

1. I am far from calm when I watch Grey’s. No matter how dramatic the story and how unrealistic the plotline, I can’t help but be invested. I end up near tears every single episode, without fail. Ferry crashes and Meredith almost dies? Done. Icicle through Cristina’s chest? Ruined. Shooting at the hospital? Torrents of tears.

2. My love for Sara Ramirez is out of control. The woman is a goddess.

3. THIS. (RIP Mark Sloan)

4. While popular favourites often die, they live on in Shonda’s other shows. I lost it when Henry (an obscure choice) died, but he has been reincarnated as Jake Ballard on Scandal along with Ellis & Thatcher Grey (Sally Langston & Cyrus Beene, respectively). All is right with the world.

5. The music is unfreakingbelievable. Click the image for an incredible 8tracks playlist!

6. Grey’s reminds us that no matter how badly we fuck up, the people we love with always be there. That really is something special, and it will never get old.
