DIY Lace Bowls

Earlier this month, I found a website that gave instructions for DIY lace doily bowls. I have never been an outstandingly crafty person, however once in a while a craft catches my eye that I can’t refuse! This project is super easy…the hardest part was finding the lace doilies! Heads up: Michael’s doesn’t have any, and neither does Fabricland. Riley and I ended up finding some doilies at Value Village, and we decided they would have to do! Ours didn’t work out nearly as well as the ones pictured on the original blog, but I think that they’ll still be a cute addition to my bedroom. Feel free to click the link above for the original craft instructions; they offer directions on dying white lace doilies for an ombre affect, and provide a different variety of photos. Below is our take on the lace doily bowl…they’re ADORABLE, and perfect for holding rings, keys, and other little goodies. ♡

Supplies:

 Doilies (lace/fabric/knit)
– Fabric stiffener (mine was by Mod Podge, but white glue works too)
– Bowls
– Saran wrap

Completely saturate the doily in glue, which can be diluted with water if necessary.

Gently wring out the excess glue, until the doily is true to its original colour.

Place the doily on top of an upside-down bowl with saran wrap underneath. Make sure the fabric hugs the bowl so that it retains your desired shape. Let air-dry for up to 24 hours.

There you have it! Cute little lace bowls to adorn your counter or dresser and keep your trinkets close at hand.

What other DIYs will you be trying this spring?
